Improving English with US Volunteers

4One hundred twenty Medellin public school teachers in information technology and physical education who altogether reach 7000 students, graduated in October from a Department of Education and city of Medellin sponsored English course taught by volunteers from the Marina Orth Foundation. Former Colombia PCVs Arleen Cheston, Mary Ray and Barbara Muchisky led a popular week long workshop during the course that emphasized teaching better ways to communicate and teach English for their specialities. The foundation is paid for these courses by the city and their revenue helps sustain our volunteers who also make follow-up visits to the schools involved.
